Departure time from Huaraz: 3 am. Driving to Punta Olimpica, getting through some small cities and villages, such as Marcara and Carhuaz. The hike starts  before the tunel, heading toward Mateo mountain.

To reach the galciar, you have to hike up through moraine rocks. Once in the glacier,  you put  on  your climbing equipment to start climbing . It has30°to 45°inclination to reach the summit. From the top you have magnificent views over many snow peaked mountains and lakes.
